As I fight the urge to jump back in bed after putting Melody down for her nap, I can’t help but feel that I could be doing something a lot more productive with the very small window of time I get to myself.
This one little nap a day that she takes is something I am trying to hold on to for dear life as long as the good Lord will let me!
For any of my fellow parents reading this… you all know the struggle is REAL.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my baby girl more than sleeping, eating and a long hot shower.
but…by the time she lays her head down around 1 pm I’m ready to call it a night.
The reality is…the day is so not over and there are a list of things to do.
Time management has always been a struggle of mine and balancing all the demands and responsibilities that I have can become an overwhelming task.
The two things that give me that extra boost that I need to get my life together are…
JESUS and COFFEE.
Now one I need everyday (JESUS) and the other I call in for backup (COFFEE).
When I want to be a little extra… I make myself a hot cup of coffee with my AeroPress.
The AeroPress is currently one of my favorite gadgets.
I really appreciate it because it is simple to use, portable and delivers a smooth cup of coffee every time.
*Fun Fact* Jacob was born and raised in Louisville, KY. We picked up some beans from a local shop called Sunergos Coffee when we visited this past July. The coffee is great and the atmosphere is super chill. If you are ever in town check it out! 🙂
Believe it or not a lot of cool, local, hipster, fair-trade etc. places use AeroPress in their coffee shops.
If you are like me and don’t always have the freedom to venture out to these awesome places on the regular…or if you just straight up want to save money (also like me), purchasing your own AeroPress is a solid investment.
I personally prefer the inverted method which allows the coffee grounds to be fully immersed during the entire brewing process.
First you want to start by inserting the rubber piston into the brewing chamber like so.
You want to insert it in about 1/4 inch than place the Aeropress upside, with the provided funnel on top (numbers should be upside down).
Next, using the scoop provided pour one full scoop of coffee grounds into the funnel.
Slowly add hot water and fill to the top of circle labeled number 1.
Start timer for one minute.
Then, slowly stir the mixture for 10 seconds
Place the paper filter on the inside of the plastic filter cover and secure it to the top by turning it clockwise.
    Â
After, one minute carefully flip the AeroPress upright on top of a mug.
Then, push the piston straight down with a steady pressure (please excuse my watch farmers tan) 😀
Once you hit the bottom you will hear a hissing noise.
Remove the AeroPress from mug and remove the filter cover.
Hold the AeroPress over the trash can and push the coffee grounds out (or save them for composting).
Rinse the AeroPress parts.
Add desired amount of water to dilute concentrated coffee.
Add cream, sugar or leave it black!
Enjoy!!! 🙂
